Busy Time

Spring is coming around, and that's always a busy time at the farm. The puppies frolicked and played so much yesterday, but still, I couldn't get good pictures of them. I want them to look their absolute cutest and they want to be the absolute silliest whenever I try to take pics. Hopefully tomorrow I can get pics taken of them. Then the plan on Tuesday and Thursday is to take the pups to the vet for their third round of shots. They're growing up so fast!

On top of that, I'm getting the goat kids posted for selling, prepping our pasture to remove the weeds, mesquite, and cacti, and making some other adjustments around the farm. We're already loving the round bales with the livestock and the shelter made to store the extra hay bales. It's streamlined the feeding process a ton and it appears it will indeed save us money versus the square bales we were using. It's not only that the square bales are more expensive, but they are packed looser and there is always so much waste with them. Now, the square bales are for the goats and sheep only and those guys don't eat nearly as much hay as the cows do!

Lastly, we had a dear friend visit us this weekend and he reminded me how differently "city" folk think from "country" folk. We had talked about Amazon deliveries (two hours for him from ordering, up to ten days for us), places to eat, and things to do. Even though we gave up several things to move out here, we don't miss those things a bit. Ok, the Amazon delivery still stings a little. But I remember all the stress and negativity that city life gave us and while small-town life has different struggles, I'm just happy on our land and with our animals.
